The Picturebook Guesthouse began its first cycle of Hospitality Training at the guesthouse on January 7th, 2015. Nine students from partner migrant learning centers were recruited to participate in the program. The students study English for Specific Purposes – Hospitality for the Picturebook Guesthouse as well as a comprehensive English Hospitality course using an integrated skills approach developed by Oxford University Press called “High Season: English for the Hotel Industry.” Students are also studying Thai for Specific Purposes – Hospitality for the Picturebook Guesthouse as well as computers and the YCF Life Skills curriculum.
The two months of intensive hospitality training is designed to provide the trainees to be able to deliver effective and excellent guest services. The training also prepares them to communicate meaningfully with a variety of guests who they will encounter at the guesthouse during their apprenticeships as well as at their jobs following the program. The trainees focus on their learning, training and skill development is paying great efforts for their daily lessons and assignments thus far.
The PBG students who live in YCF dormitory also undergo night study with our YCF intern 5 days a week. They are trying hard and doing their assignments and coursework diligently and we wish them well as they continue their training in February.
